Name badges, new faces and a busy Friday at the Cosy Club: our New Members Welcome Event

We took over the side room of the Cosy Club in Nottingham for our New Members Welcome Event. Thirty-seven people booked in, a good mix of people trying Affinity for the first time and existing members who came along to say hello.

The idea behind this one is simple. If you are new, or still thinking about joining, it is a chance to meet the hosts, find out how Affinity works and see the kind of people who come to our events, without having to commit to a full night out first. Everyone got a name badge on arrival, which helps more than you would think when you are trying to remember who is who.

Most of the new faces came on their own, which is usual for us. The hosts kept an eye on the door, brought people over and did the introductions, and after that it was mostly drinks and conversation. Plenty of questions about what events are coming up, which ones people had their eye on, and a fair bit of "so what made you sign up?"

The Cosy Club suits a night like this. It is a good looking room (green walls, old portraits, comfy seats) and there is enough space to move between groups and chat to a few different people over the evening, which is really the point.

Thanks to our hosts Adam, Claire, Kerry, Kirsty, Sarah, Terry, Tünde and Waq for welcoming everyone, and thanks to all of you who came along, especially those who walked in on their own for the first time. We hope to see you at an event soon!
