Three games, one crossbow bolt: Blood on the Clocktower at Portello Lounge
Blood on the Clocktower was back on Thursday 8th October, this time at Portello Lounge on Central Avenue in West Bridgford. Adam was hosting, and it was a small group of six, all Affinity members, which meant nobody could hide and everyone was a suspect from the first minute.
If you have not played it, Blood on the Clocktower is a social deduction game along the lines of The Traitors. Everyone gets a secret role, most of the table is good, a couple are quietly evil, and one of them is the Demon. The good team has to work out who is lying before it is too late. The evil team just has to keep a straight face.
With six players the games move quickly, and we managed to get three in over the evening.
One of them did not last long. Claire drew the Demon, which is the role you want if you fancy a challenge, and was promptly shot with a crossbow bolt after the first night. If you know the game, that is the Slayer taking one shot at the person they think is the Demon, and getting it right first time. Game over, quickest one we have ever had, and not Claire's finest hour for bluffing her way out of trouble. To be fair to her, there is not much you can do about a lucky shot.
The final game went the other way. Adam was on the evil side and got away with it, so the town lost that one and Adam went home with the win.
A small table suits this game well. Everyone gets their say, the arguments are easier to follow, and you can get through a few rounds without anyone waiting around.
Thanks to Adam for hosting, and to Ed, Aung, Linda, Claire and Nilesh for coming along and doing their best to lie to each other.
If you fancy a game night, we are at Malt Cross on Wednesday 14th October for Board Games Night. Keep an eye on the events page for the next Clocktower night.
