Birthdays are better with good company. Whether you like a big night out or a quiet dinner with a few familiar faces, we’d love to help you celebrate, and now there’s a simple way to let us know when your special day comes around.

You can now add My Birthday to your Affinity Club profile. It’s completely optional, it only takes a few seconds, and you decide exactly who gets to see it.

What’s new on your profile

When you edit your profile, you’ll find a new birthday section just under your bio. It has three parts:

• My Birthday: pick your date from the calendar.
• Show My Birthday on my profile: tick this if you’d like other members to see your birthday on your public profile.
• Allow Happy Birthday messages on social media: tick this if you’re happy for us to give you a birthday shout-out on the Affinity Club social channels.

Both tick boxes are off unless you choose to turn them on, so adding your birthday on its own doesn’t share it with anyone.

How to add your birthday

1. Log in to the Affinity Club website and go to My Account.
2. Choose Edit My Profile.
3. Under your bio, click the little calendar icon next to My Birthday and pick your date. You can jump straight to the right month and year using the drop-downs at the top.
4. Tick either or both of the birthday options if you’d like to.
5. Press Update Profile at the bottom of the page.

That’s it, all done.

Day and month only, never the year

We know some of us are happier keeping our age to ourselves, and that’s absolutely fine. If you choose to show your birthday on your profile, other members will only ever see the day and month, for example “Birthday: 14th March”. Your birth year is never shown on your profile.

It’s a lovely little conversation starter, too. If you spot that someone you’ve met at an event has a birthday coming up, it’s the perfect excuse to say hello and wish them well next time you see them.

A birthday shout-out from the club

Affinity is all about community, and we love celebrating the people who make it special. If you tick Allow Happy Birthday messages on social media, we may share a friendly happy birthday message for you on our social media pages when your big day arrives.

We’ll only ever do this for members who have ticked the box. If you’d rather celebrate quietly, simply leave it unticked and we won’t mention it.

You’re always in control

Everything in the birthday section is optional and you can change it whenever you like. Head back to Edit My Profile to update your date, untick either option, or clear your birthday altogether using the small cross next to the calendar.
