Daytime disco at the Arboretum for Day Fever

On a Saturday afternoon a small Affinity group headed to Day Fever at Nottingham Arboretum, the daytime party set up by Vicky McClure and Jonny Owen that has become one of the fixtures of the Nottingham summer.

The idea behind Day Fever is simple enough and it is a big part of why it works. It runs in the afternoon rather than late at night, the music is 80s and 90s, disco, pop and indie, and everyone is home at a sensible hour. Put that in the Arboretum, with the bandstand, the bar and a bit of late August sun, and you have a very easy way to spend a Saturday.

Events like this one are worth flagging for anyone who thinks a social club means sitting in a pub. Some of what we do is exactly that, but a fair bit of it is just going along to things that are already happening in Nottingham with people who fancy the same thing.

If you have ever looked at a festival listing and thought you would go if you had someone to go with, that is more or less the whole reason Affinity exists.

Day Fever will be back next summer. We will put it on the calendar again when tickets go on sale, and we will give a bit more notice next time so people can get organised.
