Mowgli Indian Street Food

Nestled on a cobbled street in the historic Lace Market, Mowgli brings the vibrant soul of Indian home cooking to Nottingham. Founded by former barrister Nisha Katona, this isn’t your typical curry house—it’s a celebration of the fresh, bright flavours that Indians actually eat at home and on their streets. The restaurant opened in July 2018, transporting diners to the ancient temples of Varanasi through hanging ropes, vines, and an enchanting amber glow.

Step inside this pink-painted Victorian warehouse and you’ll discover a bohemian haven spread across two floors. Swing seats dangle beside wood-carved booths, fairy lights climb the walls, and floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with light. The menu is designed for sharing—tiffins brimming with virtuosic herbs and spices, light enough for lunch yet soulful enough for a feast.

Every dish reflects Nisha’s passion for ancestral recipes and her mission to enrich communities. The Mowgli Trust, the charity arm of the business, has raised millions for local and international causes. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or seeking gluten-friendly options, Mowgli welcomes everyone to experience the smash-and-grab zing of authentic Indian street food.
