Coffee, cake and a slow Saturday morning in West Bridgford

Five of us met at ROK Coffee House on Melton Road for our coffee morning in West Bridgford, and it turned into exactly the sort of relaxed couple of hours these mornings are meant to be.

ROK has become a bit of a favourite. The coffee is 200 Degrees, the room is bright and comfortable, and nobody minds how long you sit there. There is a garden out the back if the weather behaves and plenty of space inside if it does not, so it works whatever Nottingham decides to do on the day.

Claire hosted again and got everyone introduced before the first round of drinks arrived. Five is a nice size for a coffee morning. One table, one conversation, and everybody gets a proper go at talking rather than sitting on the edge of something they cannot hear.

The morning went the way these usually do. Coffee, something sweet, and a conversation that wandered from what everyone had been up to, through recommendations for places to eat, and on to which Affinity events people had their eye on next.

If evenings out are not your thing, or you would rather meet people without a late night and a loud bar involved, a coffee morning is an easy place to start. No cost beyond your coffee, no commitment, and you are home by lunchtime.
