Shakespeare under the summer sky: our evening by the Trent
There is something special about watching Shakespeare performed outdoors on a warm summer evening, and that is exactly how Affinity members spent Saturday at our Shakespeare by the Trent, an open-air evening of theatre down on Victoria Embankment in Nottingham.
Victoria Embankment is one of the city's loveliest spots as the evening draws in, with the river close by and the light softening over the water. It made a perfect backdrop for a bit of open-air culture, and there is a lovely, easy atmosphere to events like this, where you can enjoy the performance and a good natter in equal measure.
That is the beauty of an evening like this. A bit of culture, some fresh air by the river and good company, all rolled into one. Whether you are a lifelong Shakespeare fan or just fancied a different sort of night out, there was plenty to enjoy.
Meeting new people, sharing great moments and creating memories is what these evenings are all about, and Saturday delivered all three beside the Trent.
